{ } Limitations

A higher error-correction level makes the code bigger for the same text, because the redundancy has to go somewhere. Raise it when the code will be damaged or printed small, not by default.
Contrast is what a scanner reads, so a light foreground on a dark background will not scan. Keep the foreground dark.
The quiet zone is part of the code, not a margin you can trim. Four clear modules is the standard, and a code pasted flush against dark page furniture often will not scan.

Is my data uploaded to a server?

No. Everything runs locally in your browser — your files never leave your device.

Can I process more than one file at once?

This tool works on one input at a time.

Is this tool free?

Yes — it’s completely free and needs no sign-up.

Does the code expire, or get tracked?

No. It is generated on your device and encodes exactly what you typed, with nothing in between. Many online generators return a short redirect URL they own, which means the code stops working if they do, and every scan goes through them first. Nothing here can expire or count your scans, because nothing here knows about them.

How much text can one code hold?

Up to roughly 2,900 bytes at the lowest error-correction level, and about 1,270 at the highest — but a code that dense needs a good camera and a clean print. For anything long, encode a short URL and put the text behind it.

Which error-correction level should I use?

Medium unless you have a reason. It recovers about 15% damage, which covers a scuff or a fingerprint. High recovers about 30% and is worth it for stickers, curved surfaces, or a code with a logo placed over the middle.

Can I put a logo in the middle?

Yes, with a caveat: cover no more than about a fifth of the code and generate it at High correction first. The redundancy is what lets the rest be read, so a logo on a Low-correction code usually destroys it.
